I was finally discharged on Thursday. Having to stay in the hospital over Christmas wasn’t too bad, but I was ready to come home. I’m so glad I’m home at last – and in time for the New Year!
I was discharged just before lunch, as I had to see the consultant and physio first to check I was able to go home. In physio, I had to walk to the physio room and then up and down three stairs twice. I’m so proud of myself that I managed to do it.
My mobility improved significantly again on Thursday, so much that I was able to drive home! The physio said that I could drive as soon as I could change gear and emergency brake. I could do that well, even though I can’t lift my leg up when my foot is underneath my knee. I’ve been trying to squeeze a ball in my left hand for a couple of days. Hopefully, my grip will improve soon. A community physio is coming at some point in the New Year, but I’m hoping to be almost back to normal by then!
