Mother’s Day is in a couple of weeks (I know, I didn’t know either!) and now is the perfect time to do some shopping. But what do you buy a chronically ill mum? Here are 7 chronic illness friendly Mother’s Day 2019 gift ideas.
All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links, which are marked with an *asterisk. The product photos are also affiliate links. I honestly love all the products I recommend. Please read my disclaimer for more information.
Kinesiology tape is used to prevent and treat musculoskeletal injuries (like sprains and strains). I love this kinesiology tape. It supports my joints really well and eases the pain a little bit. It comes in fun colours, too! You can get Proworks’ Kinesiology tape (my recommendation) *here. I currently have the light blue and hot pink ones and I’m loving them!
There are so many fun t-shirt designs you can find. I love the ones that are on Redbubble – and by buying through them you’ll likely be supporting small businesses like mine! Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a photo to go with this point, but you can easily find some spoonie-related t-shirts by searching “spoonie t-shirts”. There are hundreds of designs to choose from. Some of them are general spoonie designs, and some are diagnosis related.
If your mum (or you!) take a lot of medications, a pill organiser is the perfect gift. It makes taking pills so much easier and you don’t have to carry around hundreds of containers when you go out. I find filling up my organisers really satisfying which is an added bonus! You can get the pill organiser I use through *this link.
Amazon Prime/Netflix subscription
There are a lot of times in a chronically ill person’s life when they’re just too tired to read or even move at all. I’m always watching Netflix or Amazon. They’ve saved me so much money too, as you pay for a monthly subscription, rather than buying everything you want to watch individually. They also do recommendations, which I love, because it doesn’t take me long to finish a series an I never know what to watch next! You can get *Amazon Prime here and Netflix here.
Lavender essential oil
I love putting some lavender essential oil in my bath or on my pillow before I go to sleep. It’s really relaxing and helps me sleep a little better. It smells nice, too! You can get the lavender essential oil I use through *this link.
Fitbit Charge 2
I’ve had a Fitbit for a few years now and absolutely love my Charge 2. It tracks heart rate, as well as things like steps and distance walked. The step count has even helped me in physio! You can get the Fitbit Charge 2 from Amazon using *this link.
Spending time with you!
This is one she’d probably like the most – to spend some time with you! Now, I don’t mean have a full day out, as she may not have enough spoons to do that. Just do something together, even if you just lie in bed watching TV!
So that sums up 7 chronic illness friendly Mother’s Day 2019 gift ideas!
