I have had SUCH a busy couple of days. On Friday, I had occupational therapy in the morning and Open Mic in the evening, then yesterday, I went to Dad’s for the day. It was the busiest weekend I’ve had in such a long time!

Occupational therapy

My busy weekend started off with occupational therapy on Friday morning. This went great! I’ve had occupational therapy before, but this was very different, as it was at home rather than in the hospital.

The occupational therapist was really nice. She was here for about an hour, which we spent talking about me and my symptoms. She wanted to get to know me a bit better so that we can see what I can aim to be able to do. I’m not sure what that is yet. The occupational therapist hasn’t given me much to do yet, because she needs to talk to the physios so they’re not telling me to do opposite things. She did tell me, however, to do some cooking following the recipes exactly, which hopefully will make my brain work properly again so that I can study. I was also told to try a Sensory Smart top. These are tight fitting, which means my skin is always being stimulated so hopefully wearing normal clothes on top of this won’t hurt. I tried the top yesterday, but unfortunately, it did hurt. It’s a shame because I really want to be able to wear normal clothes again.

Open Mic

On Friday evening, I went to the Open Mic at the pub down the road. It was an amazing evening! Bundy and his girlfriend Sophie were there, as was Alice (the one I do the cooking with). It was great to see them all. I played piano this time, as well as some guitar. Alice bought her full-length keyboard down so I could play it. I also played guitar for and sang with Sophie. This was really nice. I’ve known her since I started college two years ago, but I hadn’t seen her for ages, as I dropped out of college.

I was so happy after Open Mic because my legs didn’t give up on me! At one point, I was worried one of them had, but it was just numb from having my legs crossed. I think the reason they didn’t give up was that I was sat down most of the time. I had to sit down to play piano, but I was also sat down for all but one of the songs I played on guitar. I’m so happy they didn’t give up on me because it’s very frustrating!

Dad’s for the day

To end my busy weekend (even though this was on Saturday), I went to Dad’s for the day yesterday. This was fun because I got to see Eros again. It’s really annoying that it uses so many steps to get there because it means that I’m on around 800 by the time I get there, so I only have 200 steps for the rest of the day. 1,000 steps doesn’t feel like very many anymore!

I spent most of the day watching TV, as always. This time, it was Baywatch, Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and an episode of The Big Bang Theory. I hadn’t watched Baywatch before, but it’s actually really good! We went out to a cafe in the afternoon. I went way over 1,000 steps, even though we parked right outside, but I still had a good time.
